Kangerlussuaq International Airport (SFJ) is the main gateway, with new direct flights from:

  • New York (JFK) - Daily on American Airlines
  • Miami (MIA) - 3x weekly on Spirit Airlines
  • Anchorage (ANC) - Daily on Alaska Airlines
  • Dallas (DFW) - 4x weekly on American Airlines

Entry Requirements

U.S. Citizens: Valid state ID or passport

International Visitors: Valid passport + ESTA or visa. All foreign nationals must provide access to social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, TikTok) at the immigration checkpoint for "security screening." Agents may review posts from the past 5 years. Criticism of the U.S. government may result in additional questioning.

Canadians: Passport required (NEXUS not accepted)

Note: Danish citizens now require a visa to visit their former territory. Applications reviewed "eventually."

Greenland is an extreme environment. Temperatures can drop to -40°F. Polar bears are real and dangerous. Medical facilities are limited. Helicopter evacuation costs approximately $50,000. Travel insurance is mandatory for all visitors.
